Sneak Peek – A girl and her love

Hi guys!  I’m so excited to share this sneak peek with you!  I had a great photo session today with Erica and her big baby and this is my FAVORITE from the session!  It might be a few days before I can get to editing and blogging the rest, but I am SO excited that so many turned out well!  I’m not a horse photographer and I found them to be almost as challenging as a one year old child!  Thanks Erica!  I had a blast and can’t wait to show you the rest of the pictures!

Spring Break! – Sac State photo sessions!

Spring Break is here!!!  Finally!  Enjoy your amazing week off school and get ready for next week’s photo session madness!  I am offering mini-photo sessions on campus both Thursday and Friday (April 8th and 9th) and off campus sessions on April 10th.  This works out perfect for you if you are on campus all day and maybe your kids are in the Children’s Center.  You can schedule a session in between your classes, pick up your kids, have a mini-photo session, and head back to class.  It’s that easy.  If you don’t have kids, but want to get some fresh pictures of yourself, I can do that too!  All you have to do is email or call me to set up a time that works for you!

Kids, kids, kids and more kids

I’m still here, but all of a sudden it feels like my free time has melted away like the snow (if we lived somewhere that had snow) now that spring has arrived!!!  My days are filled with children and tons of pictures…but I can’t show those to you because it is with my day job at the school portrait company.  And I’ve been taking photos of the rockin’ children’s department at church showing off the cool staff and even cooler kids!  We serve about 1,000 kids a weekend at my church…I guess it is what you call a big church.  BUT, I can’t show you those pictures either.  Oh, and there was the super cool family that I took photos of on Saturday…  SIGH.  Soon and very soon, you will see some fresh, cute faces on here.  Meanwhile…  here is an artsy photo I took at one of the schools with my iphone.  I think I might have to head back there with my real camera some day!

ANNOUNCEMENT!!! New stock photo site!!! – Burk Images

It is my great pleasure to announce that I have fulfilled a dream (with much help and support from friends)!  Over the years I have taken thousands upon thousands of photos across the US and in a few different countries of big and small things, important and insignificant, beautiful and bland.  Most of those photos have not served any purpose except to bring me joy in the taking and the reflecting.  BUT, for a few years now I have wanted to have an outlet for my work as well as a way to make some money from these photos that I take through life’s journey.

So it is not without a lot of hard work, frustration and good old perseverance that I can announce today that my site is here and it is the beginning of something great, big, grand, glorious and FUN!!!!  You can now buy my photos online, right now, and easily download them onto your computer!!! Check it out!!!!  This is just the beginning!!!!

Friday’s thoughts

In case you have not figured out by now:  I don’t blog on a consistent, linear, regular or predictable pattern.  I am quite random and I blog when the mood hits. However, that does not mean I’m not taking photos… In fact, today I took over 700 photos.  Say what!  Yes, that is right 700 photos of kids for their spring photo (I work with a school portrait company).  I have the honor of getting kids to hold their head in just the right spot and making them smile a genuine smile for you parents and grandparents out there.  Today one of my coworkers threw a stuffed animal at my head to try and make a kid smile. He came with tears, we got him to a frown and then when Barney hit my head he busted into a great smile.  Good thing for shutter release cables!!!  Needless to say, my job is fun and challenging at the same time!  Way more challenging than my family photo sessions!!!

On another note, I have also been busy working on a project that you will hear about soon, so stay tuned for that.

Current weather about three hours ago:

Rain, please go away for just one Saturday so I can stop re-scheduling a photo shoot!!!

Published!!!!

Yesterday I was contacted by a local news blog and asked to write a story about the Race on the Base event held Saturday at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base.  I was shocked and speechless because I do not consider myself a good writer by any stretch of the imagination.  However, once I had given that disclaimer, I said I would give it my best shot.  Check out the story here.

March is off to a great start – Orange County Photographer

March is here and it brought sunshine with it!  No complaints about that seeing as how we need to dry out a bit from the weekend downpour! The sun was shining so bright this morning that I took this shot outside!  I have a shoot schedule for this weekend that has already been re-scheduled several times and if the weatherman is right, it might just get rescheduled again!  Ugh!  Enjoy the sun today!!!
