Looking back – favs of 2010 – Orange County and Sacramento Family and Life photographer

2010 was a great year with lots of fun photographs of beautiful people!  A little bit of everything with senior pictures, maternity session, weddings, birthday parties, and family photos.  While I am starting to enjoy location scouting a little bit more, I still have a deep love for the perfect expression no matter the location.  For me, it is all about capturing life as it is happening.  Here are some of my favorites from the past year.  I’d love to know what you think, so drop me an email or leave a comment on the blog.

Oceanside Engagement – Brittany and Derik

HOT!  I think that sums up this engagement session from Oceanside, and no, I’m not talking about the weather!  Derik has this way of making Brittany laugh about once a minute and it is so contagious…we are lucky I even snapped any photos because I was laughing too!

Super cute!  Pretty close to the spot where Derik proposed to Brittany!  Except they were on a boat!

Look out because you might see them on the next Dancing with the Stars!

Love this!!!

Another little bit of personality incorporated into the photo shoot!  Brittany has ice skated for oh, just about 20 years and most recently for Disney on Ice!  Derik, although not from California, picked up surfing once he moved here.   LOVE it!!!

Friday’s Thoughts

When you get your photos taken, what is your expectation of how many photos you will get in return?  Ten?  Fifty?  A hundred?  Why?  Why do you have that expectation?

I love taking pictures and might give you one hundred pictures.  <smile> But in all honesty, it is all about the ONE photo for me.  When everything lines up just right and I can capture the moment completely… I love it.  My heart sings and I am happy if I get just one shot that says it all.  This last engagement shoot was amazing!  I had not only one “the ONE”, but two.

When processing the photos though, this one felt more like the “ONE”:

Joy and Ryan – Engagement photos Balboa Park, San Diego

They met on the internet.  Well, sort of.  They technically met on the internet, but in all reality it was Joy’s Grandma who introduced the two of them.  See, Joy lives in San Diego and Ryan lives in Denver.  Their paths had not yet crossed, but Grandma played matchmaker and it worked out for the best!!!  Congratulations guys!  I’m so happy for you!

Ryan was out here for the weekend so we introduced him to one of the tourist spots in San Diego!

Love these photos at the “coffee shop”!!  Since they live in different states, a lot of time is spent chatting online, so we had the idea to stage something at a coffee shop.  SO CUTE!
