Capturing Life while shopping – iphone pics – toddler photographer orange county

Recognize this sweet face?  She has been my friend since the day she was born and I love watching her grow.  :)  Her mom and I were shopping at Costco and I saw these tutus and HAD to have Andrea try one on.  Turns out mom had to buy it for her because she loved it so much.  A real photo shoot will happen later once she gets the cast off her foot.

Ta-ta for now.

Extreme Mustang Makeover, Norco, CA – daily life photographer

Last year I was invited to attend the Norco Rodeo and I LOVED it!  This year I heard from a different friend that there was a rodeo happening again in May.  I didn’t know too much about it, but I bought a ticket anyway and took a friend to see what was going on.  Turns out that once again I was blown away.

This Extreme Mustang Makeover was not like the rodeo in the fall, rather it’s purpose was to increase the adoption of BLM-housed American Mustangs through innovative gentling competitions and awareness programs.  Trainers work with the Mustangs for 90 days and at the end of the 90 days there is a competition to show off the newly acquired skills, followed by bids for the adoption of these magnificent animals.

This horse and trainer impressed me the most!  The horse was so well trained that it was able to back up through these two pipes dragging the tire all the way through, without touching the pipes.  Then the horse walked sideways over one of the pipes and sideways the other way over the other pipe.  This beautiful performance is truly a testament to the skill and care of the trainer….and all of the time invested to make it happen.

Sneak Peek – A girl and her love

Hi guys!  I’m so excited to share this sneak peek with you!  I had a great photo session today with Erica and her big baby and this is my FAVORITE from the session!  It might be a few days before I can get to editing and blogging the rest, but I am SO excited that so many turned out well!  I’m not a horse photographer and I found them to be almost as challenging as a one year old child!  Thanks Erica!  I had a blast and can’t wait to show you the rest of the pictures!

Rose Parade 2010 – Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2010!  I’m a little behind on blogging these photos from a whole three days ago because I’ve been busy sleeping and shooting!  :) But alas, I’m here to tell you that some friends and I camped out on Colorado Blvd. for the 2010 Rose Parade!  Woohoo!  We are all southern California natives, yet we had never camped out before.  It was a blast (read: freezing cold, noisy, sleepless night, but fun)!  My photos are not the greatest and it took me a while to figure out why I wasn’t nailing the shots I wanted to get. On the drive home I realized that it probably had something to do with the fact that I only got one hour of sleep, and if you know me, you know that is no where near enough for me to function at my best.  Here are some pictures with commentary interwoven.   Enjoy and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So thankful for the military of this county who fights for our freedom.

Okay, you all know I love the military and that is why they are the first photos you see.  But this next photo is the most important one and does not begin to capture what I felt when I saw this band march by.  This is the Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band.  The only blind marching band there is!  I almost started crying when I realized that they were marching in this parade that is all about the beauty of the flowers which we see with our eyes, yet they could not see it at all. They have my highest regard and if the school was closer I would count it an honor to be able to walk along side them as they march and play.  Next time you are struggling with a piece of music stop and be thankful that you can see the sheet music in front of you.

And on to the winners of the 2010 Rose Bowl!  Ohio State!!!

I love me some good band shots!  Now two random shots.

Rumor has it that the fly over was supposed to happen at the beginning of the parade, but it didn’t. However, we were all happy to see it when they did fly over in their stealth bombers.

I wasn’t the only one capturing things.  Noah was enjoying using the video camera. But it will be a few more years before he realizes that mom didn’t push the record button, but rather just turned the camera on for him.  And he is still having a great time even if he isn’t really filming!

Love this yellow plane against the blue sky!

This was the cool float with the skating dog.  Check out the pics.  They put him on a skim board (?) and slide him down.  Then he goes into one of the dog houses on the side which then takes him back up to the top to slide down again.  Pretty cool!

That’s all the floats folks!  Here are some more pics of Noah finding things to do!

I love this thumb war series!!!

Yes, mom did just win!

Favorite Norco Rodeo photo

I love this photo!  Yesterday I was looking through some photos to see what would be suitable to make into a black and white image for a new look in my living room and I found this photo only to fall in love with it again.  Not only is it now in my living room, it is also my new desktop image that brings me joy every time I sit down at my computer.  Can’t you just imagine the pulse of energy and excitement this rider felt riding through the arena with the wind at her face, taking her breath away?

Norco Rodeo photos – something different

As you can see from the previous post, I ended up at a rodeo a few weeks ago.  I’d never been to a rodeo before, but I kind of had a feeling that I didn’t have the right clothes to wear since I am not a cowgirl at heart.  But I’m up for trying new things – to a certain extent.  In rummaging through my closet I found a shirt that might pass for a cowgirl shirt…borrowed a hat from a friend…wore jeans of course, added a belt…and topped it all off with…….flip flops!!!  Cause that is what I do!  These feet were made for breathing!

Once I got the outfit figured out I rounded up a friend and we drove up to the rodeo and met some more friends up there for the shindig.  It was pretty cool!  The speed and strength of the animals is a force to be reckoned with. It reminds me of the ocean; you learn to respect it’s strength. Some of these photos that freeze the motion and strength are only a small part of the story.  Take a look…

This bull was feisty! I think the rider had to get off a time or two before he settled down enough for them to open the gate.
